Help with online procedures

itsme stopped working, forgotten PIN, can't file your tax return online? Here are the official helplines, and places where someone helps you for free, near you.

  1. itsme not working, lost phone

itsme has no public phone number: help is through its online help centre.

    • Phone lost or stolen: block itsme right away from another device, then reactivate it on your new phone (with your ID card or bank).
    • A call or text asks you to “confirm” something in itsme that you didn't start? Refuse: it's a scam.
  2. ID card: forgotten PIN, lost card

    • Card lost or stolen: have it blocked by DOC STOP, 24/7: 00800 2123 2123 (free) or +32 2 518 21 23. Then report it to the police or your town hall.
    • Forgotten PIN or PUK: request new codes from your town hall or online; then activate the new code at the town hall (fees may apply).
    • Trouble logging in with the card (reader, eID software): BOSA help.
  3. Public-service helplines

  4. Free help near you Free

    • Brussels: labelled public digital spaces (EPN) and VGC Digipunten; many libraries also help.
    • Wallonia: Espaces publics numériques (EPN), in French.
    • Flanders: Digibanken and local digital-inclusion initiatives (often at the library or OCMW), in Dutch.
    • Everywhere: your town's CPAS/OCMW can point you in the right direction.

Never give your codes (itsme, PIN, bank) to anyone, even someone helping you: do the steps yourself, with them beside you.

Information checked on 08/10/2026 on official websites. Remember: no public service will ever ask for your codes by text, email or phone.
